HistoriApp

HistoriApp was created as a teaching aid. Focused on providing teachers with the tools to track their students' performance individually, HistoriApp also creates an engaging and fun virtual environment for students to test their knowledge.

All activities are based on an actual teaching curriculum. HistoriApp also seeks to enhance immersion by presenting students 3D scenarios that can be explored, turning them into active agents of their own learning process.

As Lead Artist on this project, I worked in conjunction with the rest of the team at Pink Onion Studio to build out a prototype for this app!

Backgrounds

Our prototype featured the study units surrounding Ancient Greece, which informed my artwork greatly. I was given a lot of leeway with how I wanted to present this Ancient Greek area the players can explore, starting with backgrounds featured within the app.

NPCs

The Player Character interacts with multiple residents, who request their help to complete tasks (which are related to the areas of study from the current curriculum). I wanted to showcase a diverse cast, with people of different ages, genders, and backgrounds included.

Interactive items

One specific task involves the player's interaction with Hoplite armour, which had to be designed to be easily recognizeable. I painted each piece of armour individually, to match the Hoplite the player meets (featured above).

Introductory Comics

Each section involves an introductory comic.  The team was looking for a very classic comic book artstyle, so I took the painted backgrounds I had created (which were designed to blend in and for text and UI elements to be easily interpreted overtop of these backgroudns) and revamped them into the comic book art style. Below you can see a side-by-side showcase of the change in art style!
