ABSTRAKT VR

ABSTRAKT is a Virtual Reality experience created at the CDM surrounding the Berlin Holocaust Memorial (Holocaust-Mahnmal).

Our small multidisciplinary team worked together to create a moving VR experience within the space of the Berlin Holocaust Memorial as a means of educating teenaged North American users on the stories of those lost to concentration camps during WWII.

Our project surrounds recreating the Berlin Holocaust Memorial (Holocaust-Mahnmal) in a Virtual Reality space. Focused on teenage users in North America, this project aims to show the experience and weight of the Holocaust to young users familiar with technology. By recreating the Holocaust Memorial in Virtual Reality space, this project aims to bring moving and poignant emotion to users who may not have the opportunity to experience the memorial in person.

ABOUT THE EXPERIENCE

Abstrakt’s VR medium leant itself to unique challenges our team faced head-on. From navigating the entire Berlin Holocaust Memorial in virtual reality, to decreasing load times for such a large map, to creating visual representations of survivors’ tales that ring true, our multidisciplinary team was able to create a high-fidelity prototype for our client.

The video below provides further insight and information into how we built the experience.
